WestHaven began as the vision of long time Orland residents and business people, Everett and Edith Schmidt. Upon their passing, the Schmidt's left a gift to their church to "build a retirement home". This simple one line bequest became a reality in 2002 with the launch of Swift House, WestHaven's first ever licensed residential care facility for the elderly.
Swift House, located on the corner of Swift and A streets, served as home for up to six dependent seniors until the opening of WestHaven Assisted Living at our current location in October of 2004.
Everett and Edith, both of whom have passed away, continue to be a blessing to many in the northstate. Their selfless and generous gift has been multiplied many times over.
